When the terminal is purchased, depending on your service provider, there is a chip that needs to be purchased depending on the processor.

If you process with Eagle Merchant Services, the chip is $25.00. Each processor is different for what they charge. The chips differ from one wireless provider to another, similar to cellphones. If you do not process through EMS, you will need to contact your provider for the chip.
